Pixclara (floretyrosine F18) is a radioactive diagnostic agent used with positron emission tomography (PET) to help differentiate recurrent or progressive glioma from treatment-related changes in adults and pediatric patients 1 month of age and older.
The fluorine-18-labeled imaging agent is taken up through amino acid transport pathways, allowing areas of increased tracer uptake to be visualized during PET imaging. Pixclara is a diagnostic imaging agent rather than a cancer treatment and is designed to support clinical assessment when conventional imaging findings are difficult to interpret. By helping distinguish active or progressive glioma from treatment-related changes, Pixclara can provide additional information to support treatment planning and disease monitoring. Its approval adds a targeted PET imaging option to the diagnostic landscape for glioma and brain tumors.
