Vabysmo

Faricimab-Svoa
Ophthalmic agent
Intravitreal Injectable

Vabysmo (faricimab) targeted a second pathway alongside VEGF to extend dosing intervals, addressing the treatment burden that drives real-world under-dosing in retinal disease.

By blocking both VEGF-A and angiopoietin-2, it reduces leakage and stabilizes vessels, enabling dosing up to every four months in eligible patients. The intravitreal injection was the first bispecific antibody approved for ophthalmic use, indicated for neovascular age-related macular degeneration and diabetic macular edema.

Vabysmo became one of the fastest-growing ophthalmology launches and has since added retinal vein occlusion. It faces no biosimilar competition, and its durability claim is the central competitive axis against aflibercept, including the higher-dose formulation that followed.
